Trial e-Resource - Classic Mexican Cinema Online

Our free trial access to Classic Mexican Cinema Online is now live, and runs until 28 February 2012.

The content comes from the Archives of the Filmoteca of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM)

During its heyday, the Mexican film industry produced an average of 100 films every year as entertainment for both domestic and international audiences.

This resource covers the 'Golden Age' of Mexican Cinema, from the 1930s to 1960.  It features popular full-text film periodicals, such as Cinema Reporter (1943-1965) and Cinema Mundial (1954-1965).

It also includes dozens of lobby cards - film flyers which were distributed on the streets to lure people into the cinema - and the personal scrap books of filmmaker Fernando de Fuentes (1894-1958), a pioneering Latin-American filmmaker.  These scrapbooks contain reviews, movie stills, programmes and advertisements, and provide a unique insight into the career of this major director.
