Trial e-Resource - Historic Digimap

We have free trial access to the Historic Digimap database, until 6 July 2012.

Historic Digimap is a fascinating resource supplying digital scans of Landmark historic Ordnance Survey maps of Great Britain, back to 1843.  The maps include:
  • all available County Series maps at 1:2,500 and 1:10560 scales, published 1843-1939
  • all available Town Plans at 1:500, 1:528 and 1:1,056 scales, published 1848-1939
  • all available National Grid maps at 1:1,250, 1:2,500 and 1:10,560/10,000 scales, published from 1945 to before the introduction of the O.S.'s digital Land-Line product
You can:
  • search by placename, postcode, grid reference, historical parish and county name
  • view and zoom into maps online
  • print and download as images for use in image processing and GIS software
  • and compare maps of the same area, in a single window, over time
  • you need a Username and Password for access (University of St Andrews users only)
  • then, use the Login via UK Federation button at: http://edina.ac.uk/digimap/ 
  • click on 'Let me choose from a list'
  • select the EDINA (trial only) link from the pull-down list
  • enter the supplied Username and Password
  • ... and choose Historic Digimap from the following page
