Trial e-Resource - Opera in Video

We have another fascinating free trial database - this time Opera in Video, until 6 July 2012.

Opera in Video is a comprehensive video collection of operatic performances covering the most commonly studied operas in music history, opera literature, and performance classes. It contains 500 hours of video comprising 291 operatic works.

Selections represent the world’s best performers, conductors, and opera houses, and cover the full range of operatic composition, from the Baroque to the 20th century.  

Opera in Video allows you to:
  • browse by composer, genre, performer, ensemble, time period, and role
  • search opera subtitles and transcripts
  • create video clips and embeddable links
  • make, annotate, and share playlists for course or individual use
 It also contains:
  • productions of the most studied operas, which allow comparative analysis of staging/set design
  • videos of performers which are cross-searchable, and can be compared side-by-side
  • interviews with singers, stage designers, and directors, integrated with excerpts of live performances, to show the development of each production
