Historical Texts replaces Jisc Historic Books

One platform - over 350,000 late 15th-19th century texts from Early English Books Online (EEBO), Eighteenth Century Collections Online (ECCO) and 65,000 texts from the British Library 19th Century collection

Historical Texts, the new, upgraded platform, has now replaced the original Jisc Historic Books platform. The name change represents the future plan to add new non-book content to this service.

It contains Early English Books Online (EEBO), Eighteenth Century Collections Online (ECCO) and 65,000 texts from the British Library 19th Century collection.  A significant number of new records will be added by September 2014.

Historical Texts provides a range of exciting new features:
instant pdf downloads
 full-screen displays
images and full text side by side
smooth zooming
browse feature
illustration search
 image rotation, etc.

New enhancements such as My Texts - the ability to save results in a personalised area - are imminent, and forthcoming enhancements over the summer will include functions such as note-sharing; graphical time-lines e.g. showing all books by Shakespeare; more display options, etc.  A tablet version is also planned later this year.

Please do try the new platform - comments would be much appreciated. The Historical Texts team looks forward to hearing your views on it.
